Making carpet repairs is more of an art than a job. The fibers and rows are so small, specialized cutting tools are required to make the perfect seam.
Missing a single fiber may make the difference of a good seam versus a poor seam. If done improperly, fibers will begin to pull out and re-create the problem you were trying to fix.
You may think double-sided tape may work to keep your carpet together but a simple vacuum cleaner will pull that apart again. The perfect repairs require specialized seaming tape and a seaming iron to adhere the carpet pieces together. When done right, with the right carpet remnants and the right tools, the repair looks as if it never happened.
Repairs are not only holes, burns and seams pulling up, but also those pesky rolls through the middle of your room. Not only are they ugly, but they also become a tripping hazard. Over time if they are not repaired the carpet begins to delaminate. This is where the backing of the carpet, which holds the glue and the fibers together, begin to separate. This may result in fibers beginning to fall out. With a carpet stretcher, not just a knee kicker, we can pull the carpet flat once again.
Once we cut off the excess carpet those rolls disappear. Again- there is an artistic technique needed to be sure the carpet will not roll up again in the future. The carpet needs to be pulled in multiple specific directions to ensure the tightest fit in the room.
If there is furniture in the room we will make use of furniture gliders to maneuver the furniture over the floor to create access to the walls so we are able to cut off the excess carpet. If you wonder why your carpet has created these rolls, it is most likely due to an improper installation. They may have installed the carpet with only a knee kicker, which will never have enough strength to pull the carpet as tight as it is needed to be.
Simple use of the carpeting such as walking or playing hard and running on the floor should not cause your carpet to roll up.
After carpets are stretched and or repaired the life of your investment will last much longer. Take care of your carpet and it will take care of you.
